Stand up for students, for education employees, for families: April 4 We Are One Rallies

On April 4, 1968, a long struggle for human rights and human dignity ended in the tragic assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Yet this terrible tragedy brought economic justice and respect to the city’s sanitation workers – justice and respect that all people deserve.

This April 4, labor unions, civil rights organizations, and religious leaders will stand together for human rights and dignity for working men and women at We Are One Rallies nationwide. We will stand with public workers whose bargaining rights are under attack and with private workers who cannot get bargaining rights. We will stand together against massive state budget cuts that will harm our students and our schools.

There are many local We Are One rallies planned for April 4. Association members who live more than an hour away from the Denver Metro area should check with your local association president to see what’s planned in your community. Information about the Greeley and Colorado Springs rallies is on CEA’s web site in News.

If you live in or near Denver, please come to the April 4 We Are One Rally at the Denver City Park Bandshell, 5:30-7:30, ending in a candlelight vigil. CEA will have t-shirts at the MLK Memorial in the park beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Rain, shine, or snow, join us for great music, a few speeches, and a lot of solidarity. We are One. We are Everywhere.

Can’t attend a We Are One rally on Monday? Sign our National Petition. And consider a contribution to NEA’s 51 Fund to help fight the attacks on Wisconsin, Ohio, Tennessee, Idaho, Florida, Indiana, and Michigan public employees.
